500 followers spread the word, but some people wanted to use Buddhism in other things than what the Buddha was teaching. Why did the Buddha's teachings about nirvana appeal to many people of lower castes? Nirvana gave lower caste people a chance to believe that they would be able to reach a state of peace.

people follow buddisht teaching because :-
they get enlightened
they be calm and cool minded
they involved mostly in meditation
they respect and retrospect
monasteries also carry buddisht teachings.....
