The British interfered in the internal politics of Mysore state.
Tipu was not in favour of such tactics from the British government and this gave rise to the conflict.
Under Tipu's rule, Mysore became a leading centre in agriculture and trade.
The British wanted to acquire this prosperous Kingdom.
Tipu Sultan was one of the biggest threats and this was the main reason the British started conflict against the Mysore state.
