2.because of this fear the British now wanted to secure their control over the north -west.

3. they fought a prolonged war with Afghanistan between 1838 and 1842 and set up in direct company rule there.

4. Sind was taken over in 1843.

5. They tried to annex Punjab. But Maharaja Ranjit Singh held back the company.

6.after his death in 1839 two Prolonged wars were fought with the Sikh Kingdom Punjab was annexed in 1849.
