The European trading companies set up trade centres in coastal areas so that they can export and import goods easily through the sea at cheaper rates.Goods can easily loaded and unloaded from the sea ports. The cost of labours becomes very low as goods need not be carried far from there. Also the sea is a convenient way of transportation as the ship is the only means of transport through the sea.
