It is an economical cause
Britian has controlled 13 colonies of America. As France is a well known enemy of Britian, France helped 13 colonies of America to get Freedom. After this incidence, France was on debt of 2 billion livres [ France currency].To get back this money taxes were increased in France .Also there were regular expenses such as of military expansion, maintaining forts and palaces etc.
