Why did the French people form a people's militia

Rumours had been that the king has ordered the army to open fire upon the citizens , this infuriated the people and the decided to form a peoples militia (military of the common people) and violently protest against this conspiracy.​The peoples militia began its attack  on the morning of 14th July 1789  from the town hall and later they stormed into the fortess-prison of Bastille , in search of arms and weapons.

French already at that time was in chaos because of high bread prices and added to this was the rumour that the king Louis 16 has ordered troops to enter the city of Paris  and start firing upon the people. So the 3rd estate people got infuriated and gathered in front of Town Hall to form people’s militia and decided to break down Into smaller groups and enter different government building in search of arms......hope you find it useful
