The idea of civilising mission during mid 19th century was nothing more than cover up for colonising of indigenous people. In the name of civilising mission during mid 19th century French and Portuguese government used to colonise other countries like Algeria, French West Africa, Mozambique and Timor. The powerful countries like France felt that it was their duty to bring western culture to other backward countries.
