Why did the French think that colonies were necessary ?

because the french ruler louis sixteenth lost his money in war for saving the thirteen american colonies which were under british rule.the were now lacking in resources. for making the money he decided to collect taxes only from a selected group of people which kead to the division of the french society in three estates- the clergy nobility and the third is tits comprised of the Businessman pigeons philosophers Court officials etc.
