Why did the indian sepoys revolt against the british

Indian sepoys revolts because there is introduction to new musket rifle for operating this sepoys had to bit the cartridge from mouth which is formed from pig meat and pig meat is a taboo. that's why Indian sepoys revolt.

Britishers introduced Enfield rifle in the army.
A rumour was spread that the cartridge of this rifle is made of the of flesh of pig and cow. Hindu regards cow as a holy and Muslim regards pig as unclean animal. So hindus and Muslims refused to use the rifle and they revolted against Britishers.
