Why did the intruder want to impersonate Gerrard? was he successful in it ? Give reason

The intruder was a murderer and police was after him, so he choose Gerard for impersonation. Gerard looked very much like him in height and physique, so he thought he can escape police by this. No he did not succeed as Gerard planned smart and dodged the murderer
