Why did the mughal emperor agree to spot rebels?

I think the answer is.......

At some places of war, Mughal emperor has to flee as they were threatened by British. ... It has strong hold over India and Mughal Emperor that could agree to support the rebels. This has impact on showing British along and had to agree to serve overseas if required.
