Northern plains served as an important seat of political power not only in medieval India but also in ancient India because of fertility of these plains. These vast plains witnessed many rulers who fought over the control of these fertile plains. These plains have the capability to run and sustain a vast empire. So during the medieval India, it became the seat of the vast empires of Turks and Mughals.
