Bastille stood for the despotic power of the king.
Long years of war had drained the financial resources of France. Added to this was the cost of maintaining an extravagant court at the immense palace of Versailles. Under Louis XVI, France helped the thirteen American colonies to gain their independence from the common enemy, Britain.
The war added more than a billion livres to a debt that had already risen to more than 2 billion livres.

Answer:
People hated Bastille because King Louis XVI only thinks of himself and don't do work in favour of people and also when he became king he thought that now he will have much n much money but when he saw its treasure was empty because of following reasons:
1. Subsistence Crises
2. Economic Crises
3. Immediate Cause
4. People dived into different estates
France was in debt because it had done wars with many countries which France had debt of 5 million dollars but when loan was increased by 10% this made the treasury empty and also France in debt
That's the answer
