The poet left the first road as at that time he observed that the first road has been used more than the second one. So, In order to find adventure or to discover new things, He chose the second road over the first one.....

because it had more traces of feet and the second road was less travelled
He tried to be adventurous and took the more grassy that is the less travelled road knowing well that he will not have a chance to travel the road not taken
