The poor farmers joined civil disobedience movement because of the following reasons:-

1. They wanted a reduction in the amount of revenue imposed on them.

2. They not only wanted a reduction in the amount of revenue, but they also wanted rent imposed by rich landlords to be relaxed.

3. They wanted the unpaid rent to be remitted.

they could not be supported by Congress because the rich agricultural communities supported the Congress and if the Congress extended their support to the small farmers and remitted their rent, then the support from the rich farmers would have gone.
