Disappearing open field system: In the countryside, the extensive field system was predominating. i.e. land was available and anyone could practice it for production. But as the people multiplied, the open field system began sinking. The rich landowners started embedding the open fields.
(ii) Cottagers and poor peasants: They had earlier depended on community grounds for their survival, collecting the firewood, seeds, vegetables, grass, and fodder. With the disappearance of common land, they have to look for alternative sources of Income.
Hence due to these reasons poor peasant and artisans begin to work for the merchants.
