The weight of the ship pulling down (red arrow) and the upthrust pushing up (blue arrow) are equal and opposite forces, so the ship floats. ... Now the weight of the ship is more than the maximum possible upthrust so it sinks to the bottom.

Hi friend,
A ship does not get submerged in water because when a ship is made,it is made hollow from the inside....i.e only the outer part is made of iron while it is made of wood from inside....and according to Newton's third law....the weight of the ship is equal to the upthrust exerted by water...and so the ship does not sink...
