The Sri Lankan Tamils felt alienated due to the following reasons :-
- They did not got equal rights in the country.
- Applications of Sinhalese were given more preference over tamils in schools, politics, Job etc.
- Sinhalese was recognised as the national language and national religion.

The sri Lankan tamils felt alienated in spite of being in their own country because, Sinhalese were a majority in Sri Lanka and they dominated the Minority there. they followed Majoritariansim.
they were not given reference in govt jobs, not allowed to hold elections, dominated in every aspect.
