1. They did not got equal rights in the country.
2. Applications of Sinhalese were given more preference over tamils in schools, politics, Job etc.
3. Sinhalese was recognised as the national language and national religion.

The sri Lankan tamils felt alienated in spite of being in their own country because, Sinhalese were a majority in Sri Lanka and they dominated the Minority there. they followed Majoritariansim.

they were not given reference in govt jobs, not allowed to hold elections, dominated in every aspect.
