Answer:

There was a considerable tension in a Shamli village on Saturday after a monkey was killed by a youngster along with his two brothers - belonging to the minority community.

An FIR has been filed by the forest department under relevant sections of Wildlife Protection Act 1972 that attracts six months of imprisonment and a fine.

Local Bajrang Dal activists became active following the incident which took place in Aabdanagar village of Jhinjana town.

Circle officer Kairana Pradeep Kumar said, “An FIR has been filed against three brothers Asif, Hafiz and Anees who had allegedly surrounded the monkey and shot at with one of the four licenced weapons belonging to the family.”

“After receiving information we rushed to the spot and found the animal. It was struck by a bullet on the back which resulted in blood loss. The monkey succumbed to injuries during treatment. We buried the simian after conducting a post-mortem. We have also filed an FIR on behalf of the department. We are now verifying the family’s arms licences,” Narender Kumar Pal, forest ranger, Jhinjana region told TOI.
