Why did Tommy call the real book as a waste

Tommy In The Story 'The Fun They Had' Is Explosive In Nature. He Always Wants To Try Out New Things. Therefore, When He Found a real book from the attic (store room), he became very curious seeing it. And after Reading & observing the full book , he called it a waste as The book would be Completely of no use in the future after reading it once. Then, He would have to throw that away.
