why didn't the judge pronounce sentence for several days and allows Gandhiji to remain at liberty?

because gandhiji had a lot of peasants united with them.and the judge knew that if any decision taken right now it would lead to a conflict and also it would become difficult for the britishers to control the thousands of peasants who were standing outside the court in support of M.K.Gandhi.
