heya !!!
■WHAT IS TRANSLOCATION ?
The transport or movement of soluble products ( sugar ) of photosynthesis from leaves to other parts of plant is termed as TRANSLOCATION.
■TRANSLOCATION OF SUBSTANCE TAKES PLACE IN ?
Translocation of substances takes place in SIEVE TUBES with the help of adjacent COMPANION CELLS , both in upward and downward directions.
■WHY ENERGY IS REQUIRED IN TRANSLOCATION ?
Translocation is a form of active transport . Thus , energy is needed as it is movement of substance going against the concentration gradient ( a region of higher concentration to the lower concentration). As a substance is moving up a concentration gradient , a partially permeable membrane is needed to control the entry of substance which means energy is needed for the process to take place as by means the cell structure has to be living cell to make it possible.
hope it helps u dear ^_^
