⭐it is difficult to make mercury enter into a fine thermometer bore because ,
♦Mercury (Hg) is non-polar. ( To be polar, there need be at least two atoms in themolecule) whereas glass is polar ( structure of SiO2 molecules) .
hope it helps

Since the cohesive force between the molecules of mercury are very large as compared to adhesive forces between molecules of mercury and glass containers. Due to it, the mercury does not wet the surface of a glass container. That is why, it is difficult to make mercury enter a fine therometer tube.
