the unicellular organisms are in the direct contact of environment therefore diffusion is sufficient for those organisms which have single cell. diffusion is not sufficient for multicellular organisms because they are not in the direct contact of environment. multicellular organisms need more oxygen rather than unicellular organisms therefore this can be the second reason that diffusion is not sufficient for these organisms.
