Direct democracy is similar to, but distinct from representative democracy ,in which people vote for representatives who then enact policy initiatives .
Direct Democracy cant be practiced in a vast country like India.
Direct Democracy in India is inappropriate. Some reasons are:
1. Majority of Indians are uneducated and the awareness level is low.
2. A great diversity of communities and different groups of people. An unanimous decision for the national good is too tough in India.
3. The Economic condition is not sound and there is a strong tendency for votes to be sold.
