DNA is a polymer made up of monomers called nucleic acids, which are linked together in long chains. Each nucleic acidmonomer is made up of a sugar (deoxyribose in DNA), a nitrogenous base, and a phosphate group. So it is called as nucleotide.

DNA is known as nucleic acid because scientist first found them in the nucleus.

other nucleic acids are RNA, mRNA, tRNA etc.
