why do aeroplane fly in the stratosphere

Commercial jet aircraft fly in the lowerstratosphere to avoid the turbulence whichis common in the troposphere below. Thestratosphere is very dry; air there contains little water vapor. Because of this, few clouds are found in this layer; almost all clouds occur in the lower, more humidtroposphere.

Most airplanes fly in the troposphere just 1 layer under the stratosphere. They fly there because the air is thin enough to minimize drag but enough to generate lift. Some military and a few commercial aircraft fly in the stratosphere, they usually have bigger wings to generate lift or fly very fast.
