WHY DO ANIMALS LIVING IN SOIL COM E OUT WHEN ITS RAINING

Animals that live in soil will be suffocated with water in their homes as rain falls on the soil. Especially, earth worm like creatures won't be able to breathe as their homes will be submerged in water. Therefore they come out of their homes during rain in order to respire...they come out to the surface in search of places that are dry.
