Sweat contains far more water than itdoes electrolytes. When you become dehydrated your blood levels of electrolytes actually rise or stay about the same. 2. Athletes who get muscle cramps have about the same level of electrolytes and dehydration asathletes who don't cramp.

Athletes have to do a lot of physical activity due to which their body starts lacking O2 by normal aerobic respiration.
To cure this lack of O2 , their body starts respirating Anaerobically.
This leads to the formation of Lactic Acid & accumulation of Lactic Acid causes Muscle Cramps.
