Why do birds do not accept their eggs aafter human touch?

Yes this is true as few birds like pigeon do break or abandon their eggs if touched or replace to other place by humans. This happend with me . A pigeion laid its egg in my gallery near door. I have placed the egg in a better position in thw cornor of the gallery. When pigeon arrived , it did not sat on the egg and after some time i found the egg broken.
