why do certain objects appear dark when placed in a well lit room?

It is basically because of shadow of some bigger object covers them..

✔Any object can be seen when the light reflected from it reaches our eyes.

✔In the case of some objects, which are poor reflectors  of light, there is no light reflected from them.

✔In such cases, all the light incident on them is simply absorbed by them so that no light is reflected from them.

✔As no light reaches our eyes, they simply appear black.
