No, the crystals of washing soda do not change their color to white when exposed to air...

Washing soda(Na2CO3.10H20) when is left open in the dry air, lose its water of crystallization.This change is named as efflorescence.

1) It is used in making of glass and soap.

2) It is used for removing permanent hardness of water.
