Hey friend,

Here's your answer,

Coastal areas experience cool summers and mild winters. The rays of the sun heats the water and the land but at different rates. The sun's rays pass through water to a great depth as water is transparent. Water is also mobile and the warm water mixes with cold water. Therefore, water takes a long time to heat. In case of land, the heat is being absorbed rapidly.

There is no mixing and the temperature of the land starts to rise. So, during the day, the land is hotter than the sea. The air over the land absorbs heat, becomes light and rises. This creates low pressure over land. The air above the sea is resulting in comparatively higher pressure.

The cool air over the sea blows onto the land as the 'sea breeze' . It lowers the temperature of the coastal areas and has a moderating influence.

At night, the conditions are reversed. The land cools rapidly but the sea remains warm. So a 'land breeze' blows from land to sea. Thus coastal areas have lower daily and annual ranges of temperature.

The temperature is 'equable' . Places that are far from the sea do not feel it's moderating influence and have 'extremes' of temperature.

Hope this helps!!!
