The amount of refraction depends on the speed of coloured light . Since different colours travel at different speeds they are refracted by different angles on passing through glass prism.

The different components of white light deviate from different angles when it passes through a triangular glass prism. It happens because the light is made up of seven different colors and when they hit the prism they act differently. After hitting the prism, the white light gets dispersed into its constituent lights depending on the refractive index of each wavelength.
