Why do electromagnetic waves not require a medium for travel?

because magnetic field doesn't require any medium it can generate anywhere so

Electromagnetic waves and not mechanical waves.

for our example we will take light.. light constitutes of photons..

photons do not require any medium for propagation...

this is the exact reason why light and other electromagnetic waves doesn't need any medium to propagate

however get direction can be changed when they are made to enter in different medium.
