BECAUSE OF THR LAW OF INERTIA WHICH STATES ANY ANY MOVING OBJECT OR AN OBJECT IN REST RESIST CHANGE IN ITS SOUUROUNDINGS.

IN THIS CASE THE MOVING BALL WHEN GRASP BY THE FIELDER TRIES TO RESIST (STOP ) AND CONTINUE IN MOTION.SO THE FIELDER PULL THEIR HAND GRADUALLY WITH THE MOVING BALL TO SLOW DOWN THE INERTIA .IF THEY DONT THEY MAY GET SERIOUSLY HURT BY THE BALL....
