why do ferromagnetic substances form permanent magnets?

because they show magnetism even in the absence of magnetic field

This happen because ferromagnetic substances unlike paramagnetic substances and have permanent magnetism because dipoles of ferromagnetic magnetised towards electric field and they do not need any external field to induce magnetic behaviour in them.

That's the reason that ferromagnetic substances form permanent magnets
