Because of gold is extracted from ground in pure form and doesn't have any need to go in chemical industries like other metals. Another reason is, any metal reacts with air by chemical bonds but the valency of gold is +1 and of air is -2 which not makes a perfect bond. This, gold and metal doesn't reacts with air easily.
