Why do HCL shoe acidic behavior but not alcohol

When alcohols and glucose are mixed with water then they do not dissolve to form ions. Hence they do not show acidic character.

HCl shows acidic behaviour.

Explanation:

If HCl is dissolved in water it will dissociate into H+ and Cl- . Since it gives H+ it is acidic. But if any compound on dissociating gives OH- then the compound will be basic. So alcohols are basic .Because their functional group is OH. So on dissociation the compound which contains alcohol group gives out OH-

And hence HCl is acidic.
