Why do ionic compounds have high melting points? Please answer in brief...

lakshay9377: they have high melting point due to high force of attraction
mondalankita57: Not too briefly dear

ionic compounds have high melting point because a considerable amount of energy is required to break the strong inter-ionic attraction

Ionic compounds have high melting point because the bond is formed between the metel i.e. two oppositively elements ( cations and anions).

Thus this would increase the force of attraction between them which holds them tightly, hence these forces cannot be destroyed easily.(Ex=NACL, MgCL, ETC.....)

Thus Ionic compounds have high melting point.
