why do ionic compounds not soluble in kerosene , petrol etc,?

They don't dissociated in organic solvents like kerosene 2 form water molecules...

☞ ionic compounds are only soluble in polar mixtures like water, because they are polar compounds. the compound becomes polar if its electronegativity is more than 0.5
kerosene is a non polar mixture hence ionic compounds are not soluble in it.
