Why do large number of people live in the northern Plains

Rivers like Ganga ,Brahmaputra make these lands fertile and help for farming.These plains are flat and levelled.They provide fertile land for cultivation.These are formed by alluvial deposits brought by rivers

This is because this area is very fertile and cultivable.Here also there are no rugged terrain means thatthis area is flat.Rivers flowing through this region also play a major role to make this fertile and densely populated. Many of the facilities are also available in these areas.. Therefore a large no. of people live in the Northern Plains .
