In dicot leaves, Collenchyma tissue is present below the epidermis of leaf margin which protects the leaf margin.

The leaf margins in dicot plants are not cracked due to action of wind due to presence of paranchyma.

paranchyma provide machanical support [ tensile strength ] and also give ridigity.
