Metals conduct electricity because metals have free electrons (ions) due to which they can flow I.e electrons can flow and produces electricity whereas non metals don't have any such Electrons due to which any charge can't flow through non metals.

Example of conductor -

Gold

Copper

Example of non conductor -

Wood

Plastic

hope it helps...

Answer:

Metals conduct electricity because the have free moving delocalised electrons who give rise to properties such as conductivity whereas non metals(except graphite) do not have free electrons so they cannot conduct electricity.
