Why do metals form ionic compounds? why are ionic compounds soluble in water?

ionic compounds always include at least one metal...
metals loose their valence electrons to the anions so that each will have a filled valence shell .the electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions forms the ionic bond
generally ionic compounds .....whose component
ions have larger charge magnitude are less soluble because the ions are attracted to much to dissociate .a soluble compound will dissociate because with the attractions with the surroundings water molecules are strong enough to separate ions...........
