Mountaineers get into the sleeping bag for sleeping in high mountains because of various reasons. They are as follows:

  • The concentration of oxygen decreases as soon as the altitudes increases. There is lack of breathing air at great heights. At night the temperature decreases even more, hence to breathe properly they need sleeping bags.
  • Also at such high altitudes and low temperature, there is a risk of hypothermia, that is the body losses heat at a very high rate. Because of hypothermia a person can suffer from cardiac arrest and die. To keep oneself warm, mountaineers carry their sleeping bag.
  • At mountain their is no proper place to sleep because of the rough surface, hence sleeping bag can provide little comfort.
