Hello friend,
People are told to cast their votes through a secret ballot because a Person can be forced to vote for a particular party and the person forcing will come to see whether he votes the desired party or not. Suppose he didn't vote the desired party which he was forced then he might get himself into trouble. Now suppose the voting ballot is secret and no one is allowed to see whom a person is voting. So the person can tell lie and be saved from the forcer.
