Why do people living in coastal areas have to make efforts to protect iron objects from rusting?

Coastal areas are mostly humid. This means that the even the air that blows here is moisture laden. This exposes all the iron articles to humidity and moisture and increase there chances of getting corroded.

because coastal areas have humid climate which makes the area full of water vapour and oxygen which are the main agents of rust..
