Why do people prefer not to go to police

Because,they usually like to keep the matters in their own hand,thinking that they can solve the commotion(basically,they want to keep it secretive and avoid any help of someone,who're not related to them.)

Another reason is,embarassment.They think that,if they tell their case to the police,people will soon come to know,which'll have a really bad image on their status(that's what they think,and it's really dangerous)

Solving conflicts between one another,is the main job of the police. People should know that sometimes,taking matters into their own hands(usually,when the case scenario is bad)could lead to destructive consequences,and that they should hand over the matter to the police,in seconds.
