Turgor pressure exerted by the vacuole is essential in supporting plants in an upright position that's why the plants have large sized vacuoles .

Plant cells have a higher amount of liquid content in the form of water needed for their food, cell sap, etc., and thus large sized vacuoles help in maintaining the turgidity & rigidity of the plant cell and maintaining the water content of the cells.
